A return that's always eagerly awaited. Jay-Jay Johanson has visited Portugal countless times since the release of his debut album "Whiskey", and yet it never feels as if we have him here often enough. At every show, the sensitivity and commitment of the Swedish electronic crooner leave us needing more. The bond between Portuguese audiences and Jay-Jay Johanson is here to stay. After selling out venues in 2023, Jay-Jay returns to present his new work "Backstage" and revisit his back catalogue.

about the artist
Jay-Jay Johanson is an old friend of Portuguese audiences. Ever since the release of his first album "Whiskey", in the glorious year of 1996, the Swedish musician has visited Portugal regularly, building a strong relationship that endures to this day. With a remarkable output of albums, as well as collaborations with film and fashion, Jay-Jay Johanson remains faithful to an electronic aesthetic with strong foundations in jazz, pop and dense, almost cinematic atmospheres. Born of the trip hop boom, the Swede managed to outlive it, thanks to a loyal audience and a creative honesty he has kept up over the years. Almost 30 years on from that first album, today we recognise the Jay-Jay of the early days, the more clubby Jay-Jay of "Antenna" and the jazzier one. We recognise the marks of time and how much they lend to his music today.
